Embracing the latest technology and ophthalmic equipment allows us to bring you the very best in eye care.

How can the latest optical technology help me?

As well as enabling us to monitor your overall eye health, our advanced optical technology helps with the early detection of general health conditions that can affect your eyes. It also enables us to build a comprehensive picture of your eye health from visit to visit, ensuring you receive the very best on-going eye care.

OCT (Optical coherence tomography)

Suitable for all ages, our advanced 3D imaging scan (similar to an ultrasound) gives us a microscopic and amazing three dimensional view of your eye. This incredible piece of equipment, utilised in our Ross-on-Wye branch, allows us to see beneath the surface and view the complex structures and layers that form both the front and back of the eye.

OCT scans are essential for detecting and pinpointing the location of certain eye conditions. Quick and totally pain-free, our OCT scan gathers this essential information without ever coming into actual contact with your eyes.

Digital Retinal Photography

Used for the monitoring of certain eye conditions, such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments and macular degeneration, our retinal cameras take highly-detailed digital images of your retina. The process is as painless as having your photograph taken, but allows us to assess your eye health, advise accordingly and if required, easily forward onto your GP or ophthalmologist for further treatment.

This impressive technology is utilised in both our Ross-on-Wye and Newent branches.

Field Screening

Used for detecting certain neurological conditions and eye diseases such as glaucoma, our visual field tests alert us to the presence of blind spots often associated with these conditions. Our expert team of optometrists will assess and advise you of any necessary treatment.
